FAQ's about Shipping / Delivery

Can my order be rushed? Yes. A 2-day rush is $25 and can be requested on the Rx Card you send with an order, or by calling customer service at the laboratory. A 1-day rush is $40 and must be scheduled in advance of our receiving the order and is considered on each individual basis. Contact one of our Applications Specialists or Customer Service Agents at the laboratory. A 1-day rush for repairs is $15; same-day rush repair is available for $30. Rush repairs are best handled by notifying the laboratory in advance of shipment.

Can you mail devices directly to my patient? Yes. We will be happy to ship orthotic devices directly to your patient if you can provide us with a street address. We are not able to ship orders to P.O. Boxes.

Shipping Rates/Options

Inbound Shipping
Biomechanical Services pays for inbound shipping on packages sent to the laboratory, of an amount corresponding to standard shipping schedules and box sizes. Shipping cartons are supplied by the laboratory on request.

USPS
There are two options for inbound shipping. United States Postal Service (USPS) is one way to easily initiate a shipment. A preprinted “No Postage Necessary” label is on all our shipping cartons. Postal carriers will accept the carton without your having to indicate weight on the shipment. Simply write your return address on the carton and give it to a mail carrier.

UPS
United Parcel Service (UPS) is the preferred shipper for all packages sent to our laboratory, especially from outside Southern California. Preprinted UPS 2nd Day shipping documents are available on request from Biomechanical Services. These partially completed documents make it easier to initiate a shipment, since only the shipper location needs to be filled in. They also require you to write down the weight of each package on the document.

Overnight and Saturday Deliveries
Cartons shipped overnight will incur additional fees, if the account number assigned to Biomechanical Services by UPS is charged for premium service. An amount for the difference between standard second day air shipping fees and any charge for overnight delivery will be billed to the laboratory customer. The increased fees will be invoiced on the outbound order that corresponds to the inbound shipment.

The laboratory is not open on Saturday. Attempts to deliver on Saturday are charged by UPS as a premium service and billed to our customer order that was attempted for deliver on Saturday.

Oversized and Irregular Shaped Boxes
Oversized and irregular shaped boxes are treated by UPS and other shipping companies as containing weight corresponding to space available in each box, by volume. The boxes supplied by the laboratory are sized to handle weight that corresponds to standard parcel dimensions. Packages received at the laboratory that fall outside standard dimensional weight ratios may incur additional chargers for non-standard cartons.

Outbound Shipping
Biomechanical Services ships all outbound packages with UPS, unless another shipping method is requested by our customer. Shipping and Handling charges are applied to invoices for outbound orders. Packages sent using another carrier will be charged additional handling fees, along with any increased shipping costs associated with alternate carriers.

Unless otherwise directed by our customer, packages sent outside of Southern California are shipped using 2nd Day Air service. Packages sent to Southern California locations are shipped using ground service.

There is a $3.00 handling charge for each orthotic order.

UPS does NOT deliver to Post Office boxes. USPS is the only carrier capable of delivering packages to a Post Office box. Packages sent using USPS are not tracked, nor require signature on delivery.

Overnight Delivery
Biomechanical Services will accommodate requests for overnight shipments by our customers. Overnight shipments will be sent with UPS unless otherwise directed. Overnight shipments are billed according to the published rate schedule of the carrier requested, as are all premium services such as Saturday or early AM delivery.

When Will I Receive My Order?

Biomechanical Services fabricates orthotics on a four - five business day schedule. When orders are shipped to and from the laboratory using second day air service, total turn around time is usually ten to twelve calendar days.

Orders held for consultation are not processed until after we have concluded our review. Usually, an order held for consultation will be delivered one week after our conversation with you.

Occasionally, orders may be held for quality control reassessments, material shortages or processing conflicts as a result of elevated order volume. Biomechanical Services makes every attempt to avoid such delays. Our customers are notified by phone call when orders are inadvertently delayed.

Rush Orders

Rush order scheduling is available on request and includes additional charges. A 3 Day rush for orthotic orders fabricated from negative casts is $15, and a 2 day rush is $25. Both 2 Day and 3 Day rushes can be requested on the Rx Card sent with an order, or by calling customer service at the laboratory.

A one day rush order is $40 and must be confirmed prior to our receiving the order. Scheduling for 1 Day rushes are considered on an individual basis, to determine if there is adequate staff and time to complete the request. Contact one of our Applications Specialists or Customer Service Agents at the laboratory before sending the order.

A scheduled 1 Day rush for a repair order is $30 and scheduled 2 Day rush repair orders are $15. Rush repairs are best handled by notifying the laboratory in advance of shipment to the laboratory.

Biomechanical Services will accommodate requests for overnight shipments by our customers. Overnight shipments will be sent via UPS unless otherwise directed. Overnight shipments are billed according to the published rate schedule of the carrier requested, as are all premium services such as Saturday or early AM delivery.

USPS

Orders sent to or from the laboratory via United States Postal Service usually take longer for delivery. Those packages are not tracked and can be delayed by regional processing schedules, especially into and out of the greater Los Angeles area.

Shipping Procedures

Biomechanical Services pays the freight charges on parcels shipped to the laboratory using either the United States Postal Services for our California customers, or UPS for our out-of-state customers. We have enclosed labels for both services. Please call us directly at (800)942-2272, when you need more shipping cartons or labels.

Using United Parcel Service (UPS)

Our customers outside the Southern California area are encouraged to use UPS to ship their packages to the laboratory. Please call us and request preprinted UPS shipping labels.

Our laboratory address, type of service and account number are already imprinted on the label. You must make sure all remaining portions of the label shown below are completely filled out, before you use it to ship your package. If you use a label which is not preprinted, you must enter our account number and select bill receiver. Orders not following these instructions may not be paid by Biomechanical Services.
